Planning Application Submitted For £25m Kingston Parklands Development
Saturday, May 31st, 2014
Stoneferry Estates Ltd is delighted to confirm it has submitted its application for detailed planning permission to develop phase one of the £25m Kingston Parklands business park.
Situated opposite the new Siemens Wind Turbine factory, the site is envisaged to add additional value to the Hedon Road area by creating a national and internationally recognised business park.
We are hoping to be given approval by councillors by the end of July, with construction scheduled to start in August.
The first phase of the development, which is on the site of the former Hedon Road Maternity Hospital, will see Stoneferry Estates Ltd make an initial investment of around £5m.
It will include a modern 42,000sq ft complex aimed at green energy businesses, with a target completion date of June 2015.
Talks are continuing with a 'high-technology' business, who will be new to the city, with the view to potentially taking space in the first phase of the development.
Long-term predictions are that the overall development will employ around 500 workers, with a focus being placed on attracting companies in the supply chain to Siemens.
Stoneferry director Tom Healey says securing planning permission will mark the start of exciting times at the new 11-acre Environmental Business Park, which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
"These are exciting times for us and the city of Hull. To have finally reached the stage of submitting our application for planning permission after many months of behind the scenes work is a significant step," he said.
"We also remain in advanced negotiations with a company, again not yet based in Hull or the East Riding, that are interested in becoming the anchor tenant for the development. It is a business, which we feel, will be a big asset to the development and the city. Their presence will naturally attract further investment to the site.
"The timing of the development is perfect with many new companies looking to invest in Hull following the investment by Siemens into the city.
"Phase one will open in mid-2015, in the meantime we will be able to tailor the rest of the site to the needs of businesses. This time scale fits in perfectly with the Siemens project, which should be nearing operational completion."
Stoneferry says Kingston Parklands will become a 'showcase development' attracting investment ahead of rival locations across Europe as businesses look to expand or invest in Hull during 2015/16 "We have a strong track record going back more than 20 years of regenerating sites and attracting investment that we are very proud of," added Mr Healey.
"In recent times we transformed the run-down former Humbrol factory site during the height of the recession into the hugely successful Marfleet Environmental Technology Park which now boasts tenants including the likes of Nippon Gohsei, Neill & Brown Global Logistics and Middlegate Europe Ltd.
"When you visit this development and see thriving businesses side by side you feel an immense sense of pride in what has been achieved.
Ultimately, that is what we will deliver at Kingston Parklands - a place where businesses can succeed and add to Hull's growing economy and international reputation."
